Iran Unveils Upgraded Ballistic Missile with Improved Capabilities
Iran has unveiled an upgraded ballistic missile, dubbed the Qassem Basir, which it claims will allow it to take preemptive action against threats. According to Iranian state media, this marks a turning point in the country's defense strategy.
The new missile boasts improved capabilities, including greater range and accuracy, as well as a half-ton warhead. It was unveiled last year with a range of at least 1,200 kilometers (745 miles).
Iranian officials are boasting about their new capabilities, which have been tested against a U.S. warship. The U.S. Navy has confirmed that ballistic missiles were launched at its vessels and struck three Iranian oil tankers in response.
The situation is raising concerns about the safety of global shipping, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for international trade.
