Iran Unveils Vast Gas Deposit in World's Largest Energy Field
The world's largest known natural gas field has made another significant discovery, and it could be worth billions of dollars. The South Pars/North Field complex, located in the Persian Gulf off Iran's southern coast, is estimated to contain an additional 21 billion cubic meters of gas.
This new deposit was announced by Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, who stated that the discovery is a major find for Iran at a critical moment. The country has been facing economic challenges due to war, sanctions, and high inflation.
The South Pars/North Field complex has underpinned much of Iran's gas production and regional energy exports for decades. Despite previous exploration efforts, Iranian authorities have identified a new gas pocket capable of providing resources equivalent to years of production from one of the massive complex's phases.
