Iran, US, and Saudi Arabia Engage in Fresh Violence in West Asia
A fresh wave of violence has erupted in West Asia, as Iran launched a barrage of missiles at American forces in the region. The strikes targeted the US-linked Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, with five Iranian missiles intercepted and destroyed by Jordan's military.
The US military responded to alleged drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities over the past two days by striking multiple logistics and weapons sites in eastern Iraq. At least 20 fighters were killed and 32 others wounded in the overnight strikes, according to the Popular Mobilisation Forces.
The Iraqi government condemned the US-Saudi airstrikes as an 'unacceptable attack' and a 'blatant violation of Iraq's sovereignty'. The strikes have added to concerns about regional stability, oil supplies, and stalled diplomatic efforts.
