Iran-US Conflict Sends Gas Prices Soaring

The ongoing conflict between the US and Iran has driven up fuel prices in the United States. The latest exchange of attacks over the weekend escalated tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran targeting a US vessel and the US responding by striking Iranian oil tankers.

Adm. Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command, stated that 'Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost, taking out three of yours.'

The conflict has been ongoing for more than six months and has seen a 39% increase in gas prices compared to the start of the war in late February. The average price for a gallon of regular gas is now $4.15, with diesel reaching a record price of $5.90 per gallon.
