Iran-US Conflict Sends Oil Prices Soaring Amid Ongoing Uncertainty
The global energy market is experiencing uncertainty due to ongoing military developments in the Gulf region. Recent US attacks on Iran have led to a surge in oil prices, with Brent crude futures rising by $2.51 (2.85%) to $90.61 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude increasing by $2.13 (2.55%) to $85.53.
The conflict began six months ago, and efforts to restore normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have stalled. The Islamic Republic of Iran has responded to US attacks with its own retaliatory strikes on two US air bases in Jordan, causing 'heavy damage' according to the IRG.
Market analyst Tony Sycamore warned that further escalation could push WTI crude prices through resistance levels around $85.80-$85.90 per barrel, potentially leading to a significant increase in energy costs.
