Iran-US Conflict Sends Oil Prices Soaring Past $100 Per Barrel
The conflict between Iran and the US has escalated, pushing oil prices above $100 per barrel. On Wednesday, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they attacked two US vessels, eight oil tankers, and ten 'non-compliant' vessels trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
The attacks came as the six-month war between the US and Iran remains deadlocked. The US has destroyed five Iranian oil tankers in recent days, with the latest incident occurring on Tuesday.
Iran's foreign ministry condemned the attack on its oil tankers, calling it 'an overt threat to regional and international peace and security.' The ministry also warned of further strikes targeting tankers off the coast of US allies Kuwait and Bahrain.
