Iran War Drives Oil Prices Higher Amid Global Supply Chain Disruptions
NPR's Michel Martin spoke with Bob McNally, a former White House energy advisor, about the impact of the Iran war on global oil prices.
McNally explained that the turbulent energy prices are due to geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
The U.S. imposed sanctions on Iran's oil exports, reducing global supply and driving up prices. The price of oil rose sharply after the killing of a top Iranian military commander, General Qasem Soleimani, which escalated tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
McNally noted that the current crisis is different from previous ones, as it involves more complex international supply chains and global market dynamics.
