Iran War Pushes US Gas Prices to Record Highs
US gas prices have soared to record highs ahead of the Labor Day weekend, reaching $4.14 per gallon on average. The price surge is largely attributed to the ongoing US war with Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for oil exports.
The closure has significantly reduced oil exports from the region, leading to higher energy prices nationwide. According to Tom Seng, a professor of energy finance at Texas Christian University, 'everything points to the Iran War and the Strait of Hormuz' as the primary causes of the price spike.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright attempted to downplay the issue, stating that the administration is doing everything it can to push prices back down. However, with no end in sight for the conflict, many are bracing for higher costs at the pump.
