Iran War Spreads to Red Sea and Caspian
The Iran war continues to spread to new regions, despite a pause in US strikes. This weekend saw Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis attack Saudi oil installations along the Red Sea coast, and Iran accused Ukraine of targeting an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea.
The attacks on Saudi oil facilities were said to have been carried out by Houthi rebels using missile and drone strikes. The US-made Patriot battery operated by the Greek military under an agreement with Riyadh intercepted two ballistic missiles aimed at oil installations in Yanbu, but it's unclear whether any damage was done.
In a separate incident, Iran's Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of attacking an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, resulting in an explosion that killed one sailor and injured another. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had previously praised the results of 'long-range strikes' in the Caspian Sea.
