Kharg Island serves as Iran's primary oil export hub, handling approximately 90 per cent of the country's crude oil shipments.

The island contains extensive oil storage facilities connected by pipelines to Iran's largest oil and gas fields, with capacity to load 10 supertankers simultaneously.
