Iran's Non-Oil Trade Collapses by 30% Amidst War and Maritime Blockades
In a stark reversal of fortunes, Iran's non-oil trade has plummeted by approximately 30% over the past four months (March to July), amidst armed conflict and disruptions to maritime transport routes.
The downward trend is attributed to wars and blocked shipping corridors, as confirmed by Mohammad Sadeq Qannadzadeh, Deputy Head of Trade Services at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI).
According to Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) data, non-oil trade value stood at approximately $34.175 billion during the first four months of 2025. This includes $16.549 billion in exports and $17.627 billion in imports.
The contraction is estimated to have shrunk Iran's non-oil trade volume to around $24 billion, representing a loss of roughly $10 billion compared to the same period last year.
