Iran's Oil Output Drops by 400k Barrels per Day Amid Naval Blockade
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright revealed that Iran has cut back its oil production by approximately 400,000 barrels per day. This reduction is likely to continue as Iranian storage units fill up and the country struggles to export oil due to a US naval blockade of its ports.
A significant decrease in oil exports from Iran has been observed, with only a handful of carriers carrying Iranian crude leaving the Gulf of Oman between April 13 and 25. This represents an over 80% drop compared to a comparable period in March when Iran exported 23.4 million barrels, according to LSEG data.
In an interview with Fox News, Wright emphasized that Iran's cooperation is essential for restoring the flow of traffic through the Straits of Hormuz and ending the country's nuclear program.
