Iran's Parliament Speaker Warns US Treasury Secretary Over Economic Instability
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has issued a warning to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about potential economic instability. In a post on X, Ghalibaf noted that rapidly declining strategic reserves and a sharp surge in oil futures prices have put the country's economy at risk.
Ghalibaf specifically pointed out that Oman crude futures prices, US government bond yields, and the level of strategic oil reserves are critical indicators to watch. He cautioned Bessent to 'keep a close eye' on these metrics, as they could signal impending economic trouble.
The Speaker's warning also included a tongue-in-cheek message, advising Bessent to either 'short harder' or risk seeing his career suffer. Ghalibaf joked that if the US Treasury Secretary fails to take action, he will be left praying to the 'salt gods of Bryan Mound.'
The post suggests that Iran's parliament is closely monitoring economic developments in the US and is prepared to speak out on potential risks to global stability.
