Iran's Proxy Attacks Spark Concerns Over Divided Decision-Making Process
Recent drone attacks by Iran's proxies on neighboring countries have sparked speculation about a divided decision-making process in Tehran. The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, held a phone call with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, to discuss stability in the region and strengthen cooperation.
The attack on Saudi oil facilities was attributed to Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq. Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry condemned the attack and warned it would respond to those responsible. The Iraqi government has promised to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for attacks against neighboring countries.
The US President, Donald Trump, has suspended the air campaign against Iran, allowing room for negotiations. However, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, stated that Iran had not asked to resume peace talks with the US and that reports of this were 'fabricated'.
