Iraq Admits Pipeline Attacks Originated From Its Territory

Iraq's government has acknowledged that attacks on Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline originated from its territory, according to a statement by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi. The pipeline is crucial for Saudi oil exports and has been targeted in recent weeks.

The attacks were attributed to drones launched from the Maysan province, which borders Iran. The Saudi Foreign Ministry said it would not retaliate to give the Iraqi government 'an opportunity to take the necessary measures.'

The International Energy Agency notes that Saudi oil exports through the Red Sea port at the pipeline's end have more than doubled since the Iran war disrupted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
