Iraq Aims to Double Oil Production Capacity to 10 Million BPD
Iraq's Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi has announced plans to double the country's crude oil production capacity from 4.8 million barrels per day (bpd) to 10 million bpd, as part of a broader project that includes major development and investment in associated gas.
During his visit to France, where he met with representatives of prominent French companies, Al-Zaidi highlighted the strategic importance of Iraq's Development Road project, which is expected to connect economies and help secure global supply chains.
The prime minister also called on French companies to take a more active role in developing Iraq's mineral resources, including sulfur, phosphate, and silica deposits, as well as its petrochemical industry.
