Iraq and Saudi Arabia Cooperate on Security after Pipeline Attacks
The phone call between Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan follows drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia from a site in Maysan province, southeastern Iraq.
The attack resulted in injuries and material damage to the East-West oil pipeline, also known as Petroline. The pipeline stretches approximately 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) from Abqaiq in eastern Saudi Arabia to Yanbu on the Red Sea coast, providing a strategic overland route for crude oil transport.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry stated that Hussein and Prince Faisal emphasized 'the depth of the fraternal relations' between their countries, exchanged views on regional developments, and stressed the importance of maintaining communication and coordination to support regional security and stability.
