Iraq's government has authorized its oil minister to sign an agreement with Syria on constructing pipelines that will link oil production sites in Iraq to global export markets via the Mediterranean.

The Iraqi cabinet also instructed its oil minister to begin discussions with a consortium consisting of ConocoPhillips, TI Capital, and Novaterra regarding the exploration and development of the Akkas field and its surrounding areas.

The Integrated Qayyara Project will be put up for bidding by Iraq's oil ministry in an effort to further develop the country's oil infrastructure and increase output capacity.
