Iraq Boosts Oil Production Amid Strait of Hormuz Disruptions
Iraq's oil production capacity has reached 3 million barrels per day, despite disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. The country aims to increase its export capacity to 5 million bpd after completing strategic pipelines.
The Iraqi Oil Minister said that Iraq had been able to export 3 million barrels of oil per day since September 1. He also stated that the government plans to increase export capacity to five million barrels per day after the completion of the strategic pipelines extending to Fishkhabour and Baniyas, in addition to the export terminals in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iraq's oil exports plummeted from 4.2 million bpd in February to 1.45 million bpd within three months due to the conflict in the region. To bypass the strait, Iraq is working on pipeline projects linking the country to Ceyhan in Turkey and Baniyas in Syria.
