Iraq, BP, ConocoPhillips Discuss Oil and Gas Development Amid Hydrocarbon Goals
Iraqi Oil Minister Basim Khudair met on Monday with representatives from British Petroleum (BP) and ConocoPhillips to discuss the development of Iraq's oil and gas industry.
The meeting in Baghdad included BP's Iraq director Zaid al-Yasiri, Nader Zaki, Ariel Flores, and ConocoPhillips representative William Arnold, along with senior Iraqi officials in the oil sector.
The discussions focused on strategic advancements to maximize the utilization of Iraq's hydrocarbon resources, optimize field development, and upgrade extraction technologies.
The activation of the Kirkuk oilfield contract with BP is a major step towards achieving natural gas self-sufficiency and reducing reliance on imported fuel. The project aims to elevate crude oil production from 320,000 barrels per day to a peak target of 420,000 barrels per day.
