Iraq Crude Oil Exports Plummet Amidst Ongoing Middle East Conflict
The ongoing Middle East conflict has caused significant disruptions to Iraq's crude oil exports. According to recent data, the country exported approximately 32.11 million barrels of crude oil in May and June, a sharp decline from its pre-conflict levels.
Statistics show that during this period, Iraq exported around 20.24 million barrels via Basra in the south, about 10.31 million barrels via Kirkuk in the north, and approximately 1.56 million barrels via the Kurdistan region in the north.
This decline is largely attributed to the near-halt of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz due to the conflict. The Iraqi Ministry of Oil issued a statement confirming this significant drop in exports, with average monthly volumes significantly lower than pre-conflict levels.
