Iraq-Originated Drone Attack Hits Saudi Oil Pipeline
Saudi Arabia has condemned a drone attack on its East-West Pipeline, which was launched from Iraq. The pipeline carries crude oil from Saudi Arabia's eastern fields to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry stated that the attack resulted in injuries and damage, but at the request of the Iraqi prime minister, the kingdom refrained from responding immediately. This decision was made to give the Iraqi government an opportunity to take necessary measures to prevent attacks launched from Iraqi territory against Saudi Arabia.
Iraq welcomed Saudi Arabia's decision to hold off on retaliation, condemning any attack that threatens Saudi security and said it had ordered an investigation into those responsible.
