Iraq Probes Drone Attack on Saudi Oil Pipeline
Iraq's prime minister has ordered an investigation into a drone attack that damaged Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline. The pipeline, which carries oil from the east of the country to the west, was struck by drones launched from Iraqi territory, according to Riyadh.
Riyadh said it would not retaliate against Iraq for now, but welcomed Baghdad's condemnation of the attack and its commitment to investigating those responsible.
The East-West Pipeline is a critical infrastructure project that transports oil from Saudi Arabia's eastern provinces to the western coast, where it can be shipped abroad. The pipeline was damaged on September 10, 2026, with satellite images showing black smoke rising from the area near Medina, Hejaz Region.
