Iraq Probes Drone Attacks on Saudi Oil Facilities Amid Tensions
Iraq's Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has ordered an investigation into reported drone attacks on Saudi Arabia that allegedly originated from Iraqi territory. The inquiry was prompted by Riyadh's claims that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed several drones launched from Iraq targeting oil facilities in the kingdom.
According to a statement by Al-Zaidi's spokesman, Sabah al-Numan, the Prime Minister has directed relevant security agencies to investigate information provided by Saudi Arabia. The Iraqi government has reaffirmed its commitment to good neighborliness and vowed not to permit any attacks targeting friendly countries from its territory.
The relationship between Baghdad and Riyadh is described as 'firm and fraternal,' based on mutual respect, common interests, and the principles of good neighborliness. Iraq will take legal action against anyone found to be involved in the drone attacks if proven by the investigation's findings.
