Iraq Targets 5 Million Barrels Per Day Oil Export Capacity
Baghdad has increased its crude oil export capacity to over 3 million barrels per day and aims to reach 5 million barrels per day. According to the Iraqi Minister of Oil Basim Mohammed Khudair, the current export rate since September is around 3 million barrels per day.
The government is planning to expand export routes by completing a strategic pipeline network that connects oil fields in southern Iraq with Fishkhabur in the north and Banias Port in Syria. The pipeline will be part of Baghdad's efforts to reduce its dependence on the Strait of Hormuz.
The northern line will link oil fields in southern Iraq with Fishkhabur near the Turkish border, while the western line will connect Haditha with the Banias Port in Syria. This project aims to expand export routes and strengthen the country's ability to send crude oil to foreign markets.
