Iraqi Delegation Heads to Saudi Amid Rising Tensions
An Iraqi security delegation is set to visit Saudi Arabia on Thursday amid rising tensions between Baghdad and Riyadh.
The high-level delegation, led by intelligence chief Hamid al-Shatri, will discuss security issues with their Saudi counterparts, including drone attacks on the kingdom.
This comes just over two weeks after deadly US-Saudi strikes on Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) bases in Iraq drew condemnation from the Iraqi government and political forces.
Riyadh and Washington blamed Iran-backed groups for the drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities, but Baghdad has denied any involvement.
