Iraqi Drone Attack Shuts Down Saudi Oil Pipeline

A drone attack launched from Iraqi territory has led Saudi Arabia to shut down a critical oil pipeline as a precautionary measure, according to reports. The attack resulted in some injuries and damage that is still being assessed, the BBC reported.

The pipeline, which spans over 1,200 kilometers (745 miles), helps Saudi Arabia bypass the Strait of Hormuz. However, the kingdom chose not to retaliate at this stage following a call from Iraq's prime minister.

Iraq has closed three border crossings with Iran in response to the attack, part of an intelligence effort to track down the perpetrators and prevent their escape. The crossings were closed as a preventive measure to hinder smuggling of drones through them.
