Iraqi Drones Strike Saudi Oil Pipeline
Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline has been shut down following drone attacks from Iraq on Thursday morning. The pipeline, which transports oil, was hit in the Riyadh and Madinah regions, causing damage and injuring several people.
The Saudi Energy Ministry stated that the attacks were carried out by multiple drones coming from Iraq, and that the pipeline had been shut down as a precautionary measure.
Riyadh has decided not to retaliate against Iraq at this stage, after Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi requested permission to take measures to prevent future attacks. The kingdom supports Baghdad's efforts to contain the situation and maintain good-neighborly relations.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the attacks, emphasizing that the pipeline was targeted by several drones coming from Iraq, causing injuries and damage. Riyadh stressed its right to protect its sovereignty, security, facilities, citizens, and residents.
