Iraqi Oil Tankers Allowed Through Strait of Hormuz After Iran Talks
Iraqi President Nizar Amedi announced on Saturday that some Iraqi oil tankers have been allowed to transit through the Strait of Hormuz, following talks between Iraqi and Iranian officials.
The discussions came during a visit by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. Amedi said Iraq had also conveyed a message to Iran about reviewing bilateral relations.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key route for global oil shipments, and tensions in the region have disrupted shipping through the waterway, putting pressure on Iraq's crude exports.
