Following reports of drone attacks on a key Saudi oil pipeline originating from Iraqi territory, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi has ordered an investigation into the operations command of Maysan province.

The province is located along the border with Iran and authorities have determined that the drones used in the attack were launched from there.

As a result of this determination, Iraq has closed two significant border crossings with Iran, halting all passenger and commercial traffic until further notice.

An Iraqi security source stated that the decision to close the crossings is part of an intelligence effort to track down the perpetrators and prevent their escape.
