Iraq's Gasoline Shortage Deepens Amid Regional Conflict
Long queues have resurfaced at fuel stations in Baghdad as gasoline supplies dwindle due to regional hostilities disrupting imports. Iraqi motorists are waiting for hours, frustrated by the shortage that has become more frequent in recent weeks.
Baghdad resident Ibrahim Hashem said he spent two hours waiting but was unable to buy fuel. He returned early Saturday in another attempt to fill his vehicle, criticizing the government's inability to meet local demand despite producing millions of barrels of oil daily.
The oil ministry attributed the supply disruptions to ongoing hostilities creating logistical difficulties for tanker movements and delaying shipments bound for Iraqi ports. The government is working to resolve what it describes as a temporary shortage of gasoline, with new shipments expected soon to help restore stable supplies.
