Irish Farmers Recommended Winter Wheat Varieties for 2026/2027
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has recommended seven winter wheat varieties for 2026/2027. These varieties have been thoroughly tested for their yields and resistance to diseases.
Graham is a well-known variety that has been available to Irish tillage farmers for several years. It has a relative yield figure of 100, indicating good yield potential. Graham also shows moderate resistance to lodging but is moderately susceptible to straw breakdown.
Kubik is another early-maturing variety with very good yield potential. It has a relative yield value of 104 and demonstrates good resistance to mildew. However, it is moderately susceptible to yellow rust.
