Italgas has expanded its national renewable natural gas supply chain by connecting its first biomethane production plant in Castel d'Ario, Mantua, to its Digital Reverse Flow facility in Gazzo Veronese.

The connection of the Castel d'Ario plant brings the total number of biomethane production plants connected to the Italgas network to 16. The plant is expected to supply up to 2 million cubic meters of biomethane per year, equivalent to the average annual consumption of around 2,000 households.

Once fully operational, the Digital Reverse Flow facility in Gazzo Veronese will collect up to 12 million cubic meters of biomethane per year from four different plants and feed any excess into the transmission network.
