Jalisco Leaps Ahead with Cheapest Natural Gas Rates

Jalisco has gained a competitive edge in its energy sector thanks to access to natural gas from Waha, Texas. The state's head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Energy Development, Manuel Herrera Vega, emphasized that Jalisco has recorded the lowest natural gas rates in the last decade during the first semester of 2026.

Natural gas prices on the Waha market were negative during the first quarter of this year, resulting in the lowest rates. According to Herrera Vega, 'In Jalisco, we have access to the cheapest natural gas in the world.'

The state has a pipeline that runs directly from Waha, crossing the state, and the infrastructure developed to distribute this energy source offers an advantage for companies due to its efficiency and lower pollution levels compared to LP gas and other hydrocarbons.
