Japan Commits $10 Billion to Gulf Energy Support via POWERR Asia

Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu has announced a comprehensive plan to support the economies and energy sectors of Saudi Arabia and five other Gulf nations. Meeting with Saudi officials in Riyadh, Motegi stated that Japan will help boost regional oil reserves via the 'POWERR Asia' initiative.

The Saudi side welcomed Japan's initiative, saying they will act positively towards securing energy supplies for the international market, including Japan. POWERR Asia is a $10 billion regional initiative launched by Japan in April 2026.
