Japan Supports Alternative Oil Pipelines in West Asia
Japan is seeking to improve its energy security in the wake of the Iran war by supporting alternative oil pipelines in West Asia. According to local media, Japan plans to provide support for new routes that bypass the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the country's oil imports pass.
The move comes after Japan tapped its oil reserves and increased crude imports from other countries, including the US, to cope with supply problems caused by the conflict in Iran. The government is also expected to announce measures to maximize nuclear power production and support next-generation solar cells.
Japan's reliance on oil imports passing through the Strait of Hormuz has been a concern due to the risks of disruption. By supporting alternative pipelines, Japan aims to reduce its dependence on this critical waterway and improve its energy security.
