Japan Supports Alternative Oil Pipelines in West Asia Amid Energy Security Concerns
Japan is set to provide support for alternative oil pipelines in West Asia as it seeks to improve its energy security following the Iran conflict. According to local media, Japan will assist initiatives by Saudi Arabia and other countries to build new routes for crude that bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
The move comes as Japan tries to mitigate supply problems caused by the conflict's impact on oil imports passing through the waterway. The country has already tapped its oil reserves to help cope with the issue and increased crude imports from other nations, including the United States.
Japan is also considering an initiative for a special crude oil reserve that would produce naphtha, an oil by-product used in various industries. Additionally, the government plans to call for maximizing nuclear power usage and providing support for next-generation perovskite solar cells.
