Japanese Bond Yields Reach 30-Year High Amid Rising US Interest Rates
The yield on newly issued 10-year Japanese government bonds (JGBs) surged to its highest level in approximately 30 years, reaching 2.965% on September 1.
This represented an increase of 0.025 percentage point from the previous day's close and marked a significant milestone since September 1996.
The upward pressure on yields was attributed to external factors such as rising U.S. interest rates, higher crude oil prices, and position-adjustment selling ahead of the 10-year JGB auction.
