Jay Reiners, a seasoned agronomist from Nebraska, has been elected as the new chairman of the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council (USGBC). The election took place during the organization's 66th Annual Board of Delegates Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Reiners, who farmed corn and soybeans for 35 years before retiring, is now active as a consultant in the industry. He previously served on the Council's Western Hemisphere A-team and Asia A-team for four years each and was the chairman for the Nebraska Corn Board.

In his incoming remarks, Reiners emphasized his goals for the year, which include 'Feeding and Fueling the World.' He stated that the USGBC has a responsibility to feed and fuel the world with its products, U.S. corn, sorghum, barley, ethanol, and DDGS.

The delegates also elected Jay Fischer of the Missouri Corn Growers Association as vice chairman and Jon Rosenstiel of the Illinois Corn Marketing Board as secretary-treasurer. Jennie Schmidt of the Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board was re-elected as an at-large director.
