Jazan Refinery Fire Extinguished in Saudi Arabia Following Houthi Attack

A fire broke out at Aramco's Jazan refinery in south-western Saudi Arabia, but firefighters were able to extinguish it quickly. The incident occurred on August 9 and there were no injuries reported.

The refinery, which processes 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day, produces refined products including petrol and ultra-light sulphur diesel.

Aramco had shut down the refinery on July 27 after an attack by Yemen's Houthi militants damaged the plant's Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle complex and tank farm area. The Houthis claimed to have struck Aramco sites in Jazan and Yanbu, raising concerns about threats to Red Sea shipping and Saudi oil infrastructure.
