Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh has announced plans to expand the natural gas network across the country. This is part of the Economic Modernisation Vision, which aims to reduce energy costs and enhance the competitiveness of the industrial sector.

Kharabsheh noted that replacing diesel with natural gas can reduce industrial fuel costs by up to 50 per cent. The government is committed to providing diversified energy sources at competitive prices, he said.

The natural gas network has already reached several major industrial zones, including Al Qastal and Al Hashimiyah. The ministry is working to extend the network to the Muwaqqar Industrial Zone and the Ma'an Development Zone, with a target of reaching all major clusters within three years.
