Jordan Inaugurates Natural Gas Stations to Boost Competitiveness
Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan's recent inauguration of natural gas stations in Al-Quweira Industrial City and Aqaba's Southern Industrial Zone marks a significant step towards reducing energy costs for manufacturers.
Industry representatives praised the government's initiative, citing lower production costs, improved competitiveness of locally manufactured goods, and increased export growth as key benefits. Energy costs currently account for 30-35% of industrial production expenses, and this move aims to address one of the main challenges facing the sector.
Chief Business Development Officer at Al-Omlaq Industrial Group, Mohammad Hassan Sumadi, stated that extending natural gas infrastructure will provide factories with greater certainty in planning and expansion while encouraging investors to establish new projects or expand existing ones. This long-term investment in competitiveness is expected to strengthen Jordan's position as a competitive industrial destination.
