Jordan Shields Power Grid with New Aqaba Gas Stations

Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has inaugurated two natural gas stations in Aqaba as part of Jordan's strategy to reduce energy costs. The government aims to cut costs by 35% to 60% in industrial cities and zones across the country.

The new gas stations will secure flexible, long-term gas supplies, reducing reliance on pricier liquid fuels. This will shield the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) from financial strains caused by past Egyptian gas disruptions, according to energy expert Hashem Aqel.

Jordan is developing a permanent onshore regasification terminal with a capacity of 700 million cubic feet per day. The project aims to make the country's gas network more resilient and allow for better management of supply scenarios.
