Jordan Signs Deals for Natural Gas Supply to Two Industrial Cities
Jordan has signed deals to bring natural gas to two industrial cities, Mowaqqar and Rawdah, as part of its strategy to lower energy costs across economic sectors. The projects are funded with $70 million from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
The contracts were signed by Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Kharabsheh, at a ceremony on Wednesday. He emphasized that supplying industrial cities with natural gas will help cut costs, allowing local industry to compete, reach new markets, expand production, launch new production lines, create jobs, and contribute to economic growth.
The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development has provided $9.4 billion in financial support to Jordan since 1974, said Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director general of the fund. He noted that the fund's relationship with Jordan is strong and reflected by the projects it has backed in the country.
