Journey Energy has completed the sale of its Northwest Alberta assets, including the Ante Creek pool and Pine Creek gas field, to a private company for $28 million in cash. The effective date of the transaction is July 1, 2026.

The divestment aligns with Journey's strategy of shedding mature, high-cost properties and focusing on its Duvernay light-oil growth engine. In the past two years, the company has sold around 3,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) through eight transactions, generating $42.3 million in cumulative proceeds while cutting decommissioning liabilities by over $78 million.

Journey reported a profitable second quarter with net income of $18.5 million, up from $4.1 million a year earlier. The company's adjusted funds flow reached $18.4 million, and cash flow from operations totaled $19.5 million. Journey is guiding to average volumes of 10,300 to 10,700 boe/d for 2026, with an exit rate of 11,000 to 11,500 boe/d.
