JPMorgan: Gold Miners Remain Undervalued Despite Recent Rally
JPMorgan has launched a new research tool called the Global Gold Miners Dashboard, which highlights the attractive valuations in the gold mining sector. The bank's analysts argue that the sub-sector offers a compelling entry point for investors, citing valuations that look appealing across over 20 stocks with a combined market value of around $700 billion.
The dashboard covers miners from five regions: EMEA, Australia, China, North America, and Latin America. These companies produce roughly 35 million ounces of gold each year. JPMorgan's analysis shows that the sector is undervalued at current prices, offering a strong opportunity for investors.
The bank's commodity desk weighed in on what's driving the gold price, including central bank buying and exchange-traded fund flows. The derivatives team also contributed to the dashboard, showing how investors are positioned. JPMorgan's mining analysts used their own forecasts to crunch valuations at both spot prices and forecasted prices.
