Kalshi Expands Perpetual Futures Beyond Crypto with US500 and Copper Contracts
Kalshi has filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to offer perpetual futures tied to major U.S. equity and commodity indices, expanding its business beyond prediction markets.
The company seeks to list a US500 Contract tracking the MerQube US Large Cap Index, which measures 500 of the largest companies listed in the United States.
Kalshi has also filed for the COPPERPERP Contract, a perpetual futures product tied to the spot price of copper. The contract would be quoted in U.S. dollars per pound and reference the Pyth Network XCU-USD price feed.
Perpetual futures differ from traditional futures as they do not expire on a fixed date, allowing traders to maintain exposure to an asset's price for as long as margin requirements are met.
