Kalshi Eyes Copper Futures Amid AI Demand Surge
Kalshi Inc., a company that offers perpetual futures contracts for trading, is considering launching perpetual copper futures. This move comes after the company's efforts to expand precious-metals trading with derivatives without expiration dates.
Chief Risk Officer Udesh Jha stated in an interview that Kalshi 'strongly considers' adding copper and palladium as new offerings after precious metals contracts. He noted that copper has a strong story correlated with AI expansion in the computing marketplace, as well as its natural uses over the years.
The company has not yet submitted a regulatory filing for the new copper instruments. Kalshi had previously asked the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to permit an expansion of perpetual contracts beyond crypto to include gold, silver, and platinum.
