Kalshi Files for Stock, Copper Perpetual Futures Amid Regulatory Debate
Kalshi, a prediction-market platform, is seeking CFTC approval to launch perpetual futures tied to a U.S. large-cap stock index and copper.
The company's proposed contracts would be similar to its existing Bitcoin perpetual futures product but without fixed expiration dates.
This move represents an extension of Kalshi's earlier approval for Bitcoin perpetual futures in the U.S. market, which was granted in May 2026 by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The new filing highlights a growing regulatory debate over how far perpetual contracts can expand in U.S. markets.
Kalshi's expansion into traditional financial markets comes as parts of the offshore crypto derivatives industry contract, with BitMEX announcing it will shut down in September 2026.
