Kalshi Seeks Approval for Stock- and Copper-Linked Perpetual Futures Contracts
Kalshi, a platform offering event contracts, has submitted two proposals to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for listing perpetual futures contracts tied to a major U.S. stock index and copper.
The products, which have no expiration date, are similar to those found in the crypto market where they account for 93% of all derivatives trading, according to Cornell researchers.
Kalshi's move comes after the CFTC authorized its BTCPERP contract on May 29. Since then, the platform has begun offering perpetuals for Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, and other cryptoassets, expanding its operations beyond event contracts.
The new filings are proceeding under Regulation 40.3, which requires CFTC approval before launch.
